Whit Chaiyabhat – 14U assistant coach
Coach Whit has over 20 years of coaching experience, including nine years of collegiate experience as a former assistant softball coach at Georgetown University (NCAA DI) and Hood College (NCAA D3). He was an assistant coach with the Georgetown Hoyas Softball program for seven seasons (2007-2014). Coach Whit assisted with the development of catchers and infielders and aided in the development of the Hoyas hitters and offensive approach. Whit also served as a clinician for Georgetown’s Summer & Fall Softball Camps & Clinics. He was a member of Head Coach Pat Conlan’s coaching staff that guiding the Hoyas to their historic appearances in the 2013 and 2014 Big East Softball Championships hosted at The Ballpark at Rosemont (home of the NPF Chicago Bandits).
Prior to his time at Georgetown, he was an Assistant Coach at Hood College (NCAA D3) during 2006 and 2007 seasons, responsible for working with the development of hitters, infielders, catchers, and base running instruction. He was assigned recruiting duties, NCAA rules compliance, practice planning, camp/clinic coordination and general team administration. Coach Whit helped guide the Blazers to their first-ever consecutive trips to the NCAA D3 Softball National tournament during his two seasons at Hood. He assisted the 2006 team to a 27-16 regular season overall record and 11-1 regular season record in the Atlantic Women’s College Conference (AWCC). The 2006 team won the regular season AWCC championship, the 2006 AWCC Tournament Championship and Hood College’s first-ever trip to the NCAA D3 Softball National Tournament in 2006.
Before entering the collegiate softball coaching ranks, Whit was the co-founder/President of both WM Fastpitch Camps & Clinics, LLC and the Maryland Xplosion Softball Program, where he helped guide the newly established U14 team to a 7th place finish at the 2005 softball nationals hosted in Florida.
As a player, Coach Whit was a member of the McHenry College (Illinois) Baseball Team (’96, ’97). During the 1997 season, Coach Whit was elected as Team Captain of the Fighting Scots and was a starting SS/2nd baseman. Whit was a middle infielder on 1996 McHenry College baseball team that was ranked 6th nationally in final NJCAA Baseball polls and ended their season with a 40-15 record and one game shy of the NJCAA College World Series at the USA Baseball Stadium in Millington, TN.
Coach Whit also has extensive experience as a baseball camp clinician with the MLB Chicago White Sox summer camps in the mid/late 1990s, a baseball summer camp instructor at Grand Slam USA (Illinois, 1996-1999), hitting/infield instructor at Extra Innings (Maryland, 2009-2014) and a private hitting instructor while living in Arizona (2014-2017).
Mandi Chaiyabhat – 14U Head Coach
Mandi (Coach Chai) has over 20 years of coaching experience.
She is currently an Assistant/ Pitching Coach with Roger Williams University Softball (NCAA D3) and is a former assistant softball coach at Brown University (NCAA DI) and Hood College (NCAA D3). She served four seasons as the top assistant at Hood College, helping the Blazers make their first-ever appearances in the NCAA D3 Softball Championship in 2006 and 2007. She held responsibilities with the Blazer’s pitchers and outfielders. She has also acted as an instructor at the Georgetown University Softball summer camps. Coach Chai also currently serves as a softball (pitching) instructor at The Backstop Softball Training Facility in Rhode Island.
Before entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Mandi was the co-founder/President of both WM Fastpitch Camps & Clinics, LLC and the Maryland Xplosion Softball Program, where she led her newly established U14 team to a 7th place finish at softball nationals in Florida.
She also coached softball at both Gaithersburg (MD) and Crystal Lake (IL) South High Schools and previously served as the pitching coach for the U18 MVSA Storm (Maryland) and U18 Tidal Waves (Illinois) travel teams.
Mandi spent 15 years as a physical education and health teacher in Illinois, Maryland and Arizona. She offers her players a unique teaching perspective, bringing her expertise as a former K-12 educator to her instructional approach. She also served as an athletic trainer at Illinois Wesleyan University (NCAA DIII) and at Illinois State University (NCAA DI).
Mandi’s playing days include being selected as a two-time Team MVP, Illinois Skyway Collegiate All-Conference 1st team selection, NJCAA Region IV All-Star team selection, Region IV All-Star game MVP (1998) and Disney Wide World of Sports NJCAA Spring Training Tournament MVP while at McHenry College (IL). Mandi finished her career as McHenry’s single-season record holder for ERA (0.41).
Prior to college, Mandi was a two-time Fox Valley Conference (IL) All-Conference 1st team selection and Chicago Tribune/Northwest Herald All-Area player in 1994.
Coach Chai graduated from Illinois State University in 2001 with degrees in Physical Education (Kinesiology) and Physical Education (Athletic Training). She resides in Rhode Island with her husband Whit, four children and dog (Wrigley) and is a huge Chicago Cubs fan.
Fallon Scorpio – Head of East Coast Scorpions
Coach Fallon Scorpio
Coach Fallon is a former Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year, NFCA 2nd Team All-American, NFCA 1st Team All-Region and played her NCAA Division I college softball at URI and Providence College.
In addition to leading the Scorpions program, Coach Fallon is the current Head Coach at Bayview Academy and also offers private instruction, camps and clinics through her East Coast Softball Academy. She instructs and mentors numerous players in the region at various ages.
